Regulation Updates for April

1. Reminder on the NG28 March2023 Newsletter: Act 2436 regarding cyber security requirement for Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) was effective on March 10, 2024. New approvals or renewals will need to present the cyber security testing report without any exception to obtain Brazil ANATEL approval.

2. India BIS issued two Orders on March 5, 2024, electrical appliances for Kitchen and electrical appliances for Skin and Hair Care will be regulated under ISI. Additionally, guidelines were also issued on January 17, 2024 for the implementation of the new standard IS 3854:2023 for ISI regulated product, Switches for Domestic and Similar Purposes. The old standard IS 3854:1997 can coexist until August 21, 2024.

3. Malaysia MCMC released a new version of the Class Assignment on March 5, 2024.

4. Singapore CPSO issued official circular CPSO-160224-14 on February 16, 2024, collapsible electric washing machines (IEC 60335-2-7) and collapsible electric kettles (IEC 60335-2-15) are classified as Controlled Goods starting February 17, 2025.

5. Serbia RATEL introduced a new Allocation Plan on February 13, 2024. The main update is the addition of WIFI 6E (5945-6425 MHz).

6. The Ministry of Communications and Informatization (BY TR) of Belarus updated regulations TR 2018/024/BY on February 17 and 23, 2024. Mainly, 5G technology is under products subjected to Declaration and requirements for NB-IoT and 5G were added. Also, removed clauses of safety requirements from commonly used standards for Broadband Wireless Access Equipment and for Mobile telecommunication systems.

7. Saudi Arabia CST announced the mandatory enforcement date for the WWAN 5G frequency band n71 under Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Equipment GEN002 regulations has been extended from April 1, 2024, to be January 1, 2025. Affected products include Mobile Phones, Tablets, Mobile Computers, Mobile Routers, and Customer Premise Equipment (CPE).

8. Saudi Arabia authority SASO announced standby and shutdown energy efficiency regulations for electronic display products (including TVs and monitors), which will be implemented on April 1, 2024.

9. UAE TDRA issued a Technical Specification TS FS 004, Version 1.0 on new Advanced Mobile Location (AML) testing requirement for Mobile phones on February 2, 2024. This will be mandatory starting March 1, 2024.

10. On March 27, 2024, Indonesia authority SDPPI issued NOMOR 109 TAHUN 2024 (replacing NOMOR 11 TAHUN 2021), which come into force on April 1, 2024, accepting reports from SDPPI accredited overseas laboratories until December 31, 2024, and also reducing the list of to 37 laboratories for HKT products (mobile phones, laptops, tablets), and 105 laboratories for non-HKT products.
